flatbeds

Im looking to start in flatbeds but im a fairly big guy. Would I be able to get hired on at maybe Mcelroy, TMC, or maybe Maverick. Ive lost 40lbs in the last 5 months and would like to drive flats so I could keep getting the excercise that im getting now. I dont mind hard work.....Thanks for any help

 

As long as you can pass the DOT requirements and the companies ability test you should be fine.

 

Not everyone gets that exercise. I delivered a load of flour to a wallboard plant in Wheatfield In this morning. The guy who runs the spotting truck at the plant does all the tarping on the preloaded trailers. When he drops the trailer off, it is completely tarped and strapped, secured and ready for the road driver to pick up. Now, those guys, they get some exercise, but not the driver picking up the load. At least not until he has to untarp it at the othe end.

 

Want some exercise? Go with Maverick Specialized. .41cpm to start too. Nothing says work like 100lb tarp, up an 8' ladder, across the 110" of glass. Check out my schneider pics to see some of the glass loads.

 

flatbedding can be hard work, but i need to find one of those places that tarps for you

as far as strapping and tarpin that shouldnt take any more than a few hours....depending on load
if you want to do it alot go to a short hual outfit like the ones you mentioned...i dont even like to tarp once a week but that about all i do here
