Hello Everyone , I'm starting my own business operating a 24 /26 box truck . I will be hauling appliances . please give me a break down of what all is need other than :
mc/dot number and insurance
Do I need to comply with drug Consortium

If you are hauling for revenue and earn a living as in real work or similar, then yes you need to be a part of a drug testing situation somewhere.

You cannot "Not" have drug testing as part of work in trucking.

 

As usual X1 is wrong.

First thing. What is the gross weight rating of the truck? It matters on what is needed.
You might want to look into ooida for exactly what you need. At least read the pdf in the second link.

Hello it will be a 26,000 pound truck , I will be for hire not private motor carrier

 

Interstate or intrastate?

 

Under 26K no consortium, but must have drivers file with pre-hire drug test. And yes, you still needed even if you are owner and one man crew. If you drive it is needed.

 

In TN intrastate, you don’t have to have drug testing or DOT number.
