I know it's easier said than done, but try not to think about it. If you keep thinkin "ok if I fall asleep now I'll get this many hours", "well 5 hours ain't bad" "if I can fall asleep in 10 minutes I'll get 4" you'll drive yourself nuts. I try to read, and just kind of zone out. Also phones and computers and tv's, the lights from them act as a stimulant. Close your curtain get it cool in your sleeper berth and try to just zone out. But like I said. That easier said than done, I know. There's also something to be said of being a creature of habit. If you do the same thing every night before bed, once you get in bed you'll mind will realize it's time to sleep. Kind of like training your brain. So for instance get your shower, do paperwork, look at your route tomorrow, brush teeth, climb in the berth and sleep. Before long you'll body will recognize that's the routine and sleep will come easier. My first stint doing reefer and all the flipping and flopping back and forth from days to nights I did some research too. That's the best I could come up with, and it seems to work for me. Good luck.

I crank up the air so I have to get under the blankets

Turn off the TV and put the radio on low

Even just resting and dosing on and off refreshes me

A cup of Chamomile Tea and a dose of Melatonin knock me right out.
