Frustrated

    Resident of Selma/Dunn NC. Switcher since 10/2023 and obtained my CDL 02/2024. TWIC HAZMAT AND TANKER endorsements but no one will hire me. Megacarriers like Schneider will but I want to be home daily or at least weekly for my 34/hr reset. Amazon Freight Partners are promising but even they are asking for at least 1 year experience.
    Folks are telling me that my time served at Amazon as a short-haul driver will not be considered by carriers because they want OTR miles.

    Advice, suggestions, recommendations??

    If you don't mind Flatbed try Cypress Truck lines, you won't be home daily though, but you might be weekly.

    Eagle Transport sometimes will hire a new driver....but most terminals right now are under a hiring freeze.

    With them -- you'd be home daily, or weekly.

    @TNSquire might offer some info/help.

    Thanks, I just went to their website. I’m closer to the Selma area. They aren’t hiring right now in my area. I appreciate the response!

    An exact location in NC would be helpful, as locals might be able to better help you. NC is a long state, east to west.

    Home daily with no experience is often difficult to find unless you want to drive dump trucks, garbage trucks, deliver hundreds of boxes to restaurants every day, or deliver soft drinks/beer. Your short-haul experience isn't OTR, hopefully it was CDL A. The industry/economy is slow.
