Hi everyone, I searched already but couldn't quite find what I was looking for on this. I have recently changed my registration to apportioned and will now have to be filing ifta reports and I'm looking for something to make that a little easier. I am still elog exempt so I'm considering just getting a gps unit. Those of you using the Dezl, how do you like it? I am mostly interested in recording fuel purchases/locations as well as tracking my mileage at different weights ie no trailer vs different trailer configurations. It looks like the Dezl will do all of that. Those of you using those features do you feel like it's pretty painless as well as accurate?

Note: I worked for a company before who used eroads in their trucks. I liked using that and it has the features I'm looking for, I just don't want to get into the elogs if I don't have to.

I had a Garmin Dezl, absolutely HATED that thing. If you use the navigation, it will take you down a different route to the same destination every time, even if you run to the same place 5 times a week. I used to,set it going to places I didn’t need it, just to see where in BFE it would try to take me. Total junk

Have you tried the Rand McNally? I have the Dezl and have the same issue.

Had the same experience with mine. Finally sold it on eBay.

It...mostly works. Ive had mine for years but it has a nasty habit of trying to route me around emergency vehicle weight limits. Down mountain goat paths and such.

9 times out of 10 i need to use the manual edits and scout anything it wants me to do with google maps sat view and street view. Also check my handy dandy road atlas for weight length and height limits.

I have a 13 yo 560 dezl that I use exclusively for IFTA and occasionally just to give me an idea of how far out I am from my destination. It has NEVER been updated so it’s useless (as anything else) at navigating.

Your best bet is to track everything manually. It helps tons if ever called up an IFTA audit as well. Write down your start/end miles for the day on your logs, write down mileage on your receipts every time you fuel and note your mileage when you cross a state line. For border mileage I spoke the miles and states into a recording app on my phone as I crossed in and out. You could also use Maps to calculate the miles to each border if you forget to note in real time.

This is exactly what I do. And if you use the Mudflap app to buy fuel, that tracks all your fuel purchases for you
