Why is it so ###### hard to get a release to go home when your a company driver, I mean every company I have ever worked for "if" you're a driver it's an act of god to get you routed home on time. It don't matter how long you've been out or how or little, getting you home is a challenge, they hold you back and give you some sob sorry story to keep you running. But the moral to the story is, Are you getting home when you want. DMus
It all depends on where you live. You are not in a heavy freigh area, but still living right off 65 and being between Nashville and Birmingham you'd think it would not be such a chore. I live just east of Chicago and I never had any problems getting home when I was a company driver, but I also did dedicated work most of the time and was never OTR. Now being a O/O I get to work the load boards and see the freight and it is even easier for me to get home as most everything comes to Chicago at some point. As for Alabama, not so much.
you dont want my real opinion on this problem... so ill give you my nice clean version.. companys want those trucks to keep rolling.. they dont mind you sitting at a truck stop for 3 days waiting on a load but god forbid if you want or need to get home.. the excuses are way to many..dispatchers dont care cause most are 9 to 5ers..they have a load that needs to be covered..there is nothing going in your home area and so on and so on... and if your not happy they become afraid you will clean your truck out and say come get it... there are a bunch of BS reasons they dont or wont work with u
You have a great Route there SHC... I have to deadhead 480 miles just to pick up produce outta yuma or the same headed to salina in northern cali...
Get a regional tanker job . I'm home almost every restart because tanks are dedicated and I live 10 minutes from the terminal .
Been with this company 6 months now. Have not had a problem with getting home yet. Splitting my time between OK and PA. Hope it will hold true when I got to LA. This one is going to be close, but should still get home on the day requested.
Every weekend. Without fail. And getting the miles too. That's what they said when they hired me and that's what they've done.
Good for you Panhandle... Its good to see there are some good companys that honor drivers requests and gets them home...
