I’m in the market for a 35’ (ish) gooseneck trailer full tilt with either 3x7000’s or 2x10,000’s. This isn’t going to work, it’s just for dragging my own junk around. Any suggestions? Weight isn’t an issue.
PJ & Load Trail/LoadMax are almost identical in spec, each company being owned by Thiessen family, brothers I believe. They used to make quality stuff? Hopefully still do. Prices on new gooseneck trailers are absolutely insane now. I bought a pretty high spec (imo) 40' LoadMax in 2014 for $13,300. Not sure you can get a base model near that now, let alone a full tilt? Fleetneck Diamond C with 19" fabricated cambered main beams is probably the best on the market today. No sag like every other mfg using 12" 14lb-22lb per ft. I or W beams for mains. High mileage that would be my pick, but thinking they are $25-$30k depending on spec.. GatorMade makes a pretty stout gooseneck as well. Think'n they will be on the heavier side. 14" 22lb per ft beams on their longer deckovers. Tilt deck may be constructed slightly different? They had some wiring issues 9-10yrs ago, but I believe that's been sorted out.. Kaufman is on the lower end, but for low mileage personal use would hold up just fine. They been in business long, long time so they're no fly by night outfit. I'd at least give them a look. Used to be one of the last still using paint vs powder coat. Powder coat is a nightmare if they do a poor prep job which is rampant in the small trailer world. I'd of much rather had primer & paint on mine.. Not a fan of triple 7's, but they will be cheaper than tandem 10's or 12k's.. Either will get you by, personal preference here. Definitely opt for 14ply steel sidewall rubber either way. 10 ply ST trailer tires are absolutely junk.. Good luck!
I might be wrong but I doubt you'll be able to get a full tilt deck in that length trailer. Have you thought about one with a hydraulic tail?
I wouldn’t be against it if I could find one where half folds underneath itself but as they are it’s a pile of rear tail swing.
Dang I've never seen a full 40ft tilt bed. What in the world would that be used for? How do you load it full of rolling objects? We have a 35ft or so gooseneck with hydraulic beaver tail for hauling skid steer or pulling tractor. But can't imagine how you'd utilize a full 40ft tilt
Not sure? If I had to guess 10-11k lbs. They are pigs in comparison to what they can actually haul payload wise. My 48' step tares at 10,400lb with 90k GVWR. Old 40' LoadMax gooseneck had a tare decal of 10260lbs & 25900lb GVWR.. lol Some guys use them for empty 40' container pickup/delivery. Self load ya know.. As for filling the deck with small machines, I guess chain em down good, tilt & grab another.? Lol I don't know..
