I have 2 years experience and trying to get back into trucking. I am currently talking to Marten and Mesia Valley Transport. Wondering who is the best? Marten seems good but just worried about how hard reefer will be and all the wait times. Did Walmart Reefer but that was super quick and flat rate deal. Any suggestions? Thanks all.
@mjd4277 @Chinatown Welcome to our humble forum. Mjd drives for Marten. At least I believe he does. Nice fellow. He and I are Western Express survivors. Chinatown is our resident job placement and suggestion guru. He will want to know where you will be working from. Rumor has it that he took out an entire battalion of NVA with a steel pen. Stabbed 'em all right in the eye.
Yup,been with Marten 6 1/2 years (since April of 2016). Haven’t looked back since. As @Flat Earth Trucker has pointed out,if you can survive Western Express, you can survive any d a m n thing!! ROTFLMAO
Oh yes I also survived Western Express thats where I did Walmart dedicated. It was a s*** show. I am in Dallas, Texas. MVT is all dry van and 100% drop and hook with a $1,620 guarantee where Marten is $1,450 reefer with some drop and some live/unload. Just MVT not sure if their rep is reliable. Anyone else please weigh in. Thanks.
Marten also does Coca Cola dedicated accounts and intermodal depending on which area. We have a terminal in DeSoto.
Thats what looks good because I wanna leave my personal car there. I was wondering if I could ask the recruiter about dry van accounts? Reefer seems hard and a lot of trouble. Which account are you on?
I’m OTR so I go nationwide. However I do help out on occasion with some of the Walmart dedicated accounts. Wouldn’t hurt to ask the recruiter about the dry van accounts.
Reefer is pretty good actually. Some places are drop and hook, others are live load/unload. Sometimes it’s a matter of the “waiting game”. But the detention pay makes up for it. It’s a matter of using your time efficiently and planning ahead, of course.
