One of the reasons I am going to get my CDL and get into this industry is because my desk job was killing me with no activity all day. I hate sitting and want to do real work. So, that means I'm 49 and not in the best shape but I have the desire to get the job done and to literally work my axx off--my gut too, I hope. (And I'll just add that I'm also not the tallest dude out there at 5'4".) My question for you all is how fit must I be for flatbed or glass work? What will it take for me to pass the tests?
Fitness is subjective. I'm not in the greatest shape but I'm doing fine. Tapping is the heaviest work and can wear you out though. And I've lost 14 lbs since I stared two months ago. Only 25 more to go.
Flatbed u will be very active loading n unloading the same day. Doing about 4 or 5 loads a week. Glass u will live load(3-4 hrs) or get a preloaded trailer(1 hr). Depending on the length of haul, u ride cross country for 2-3 days before u get to the customer
I've watched a couple of your recent YouTube videos and thought it looked like you dropped a few compared to your orientation videos. Just the flatbed work or a diet change too?
