    I have a '99 KW W-900L with a heavy duty 13 speed transmission, and a N-14 Cummins engine. What's the recommended idle? 500, 1000, something in between?

Most of the Cummins n-14 I have seen idle between 500-600 and bump up to 900-1000 when you idle it up.

    What about when you're sleeping?

I usually tell people to set it to about 900. A lot of N-14 just bump up to about 900 and you have no choice. It will go no higher and no lower. 900 range should be fine.

As far as dead idle, just set it for smoothest idle,no mirror shake ect. If you turn on the pto function in the ECM,then it will high idle what ever you want, but 900 should be default.
