inspection rules?????

    pre trip/post trip.> how bout' a box truck below 26,000 no air brakes,just a simple (RYDER,U-HAUL) type delivery truck.. carries no haz. mat., but is registered DOTvehicle..QUESTION>> does this type vehicle require e'day inspesctions that need to be documented as class a rules within a company?? neaning the truck is maintained and inspedcted every day my question is legally does my home office need to file such copies as the general rule?? NEED FEEDBACK THANKS

    If you don't carry hazmat or people you are not a Commercial Vehicle if your truck is less 16,00lbs. You are not subject to the laws of a CMV.

    However, to CYOA I would document a pre-trip and post trip inspection if I was using that truck for any distance. Plus I would follow any company rules that they have imposed. But this is not a FMCSR requirement. The company can impose whatever rule it what's to protect them.

    and if thats a big uhaul truck its going to fail a pre-trip 90% of the time..

    The definition of a CMV starts at 10,001 pounds for DQ files; HOS; and maintenance:
