NEED FEEDBACK THANKS
If you don't carry hazmat or people you are not a Commercial Vehicle if your truck is less 16,00lbs. You are not subject to the laws of a CMV. However, to CYOA I would document a pre-trip and post trip inspection if I was using that truck for any distance. Plus I would follow any company rules that they have imposed. But this is not a FMCSR requirement. The company can impose whatever rule it what's to protect them.
The definition of a CMV starts at 10,001 pounds for DQ files; HOS; and maintenance: http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regu.../fmcsrruletext.aspx?chunkKey=0901633480023892 For CDL and D & A testing it's 26,001 pounds: http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regu.../fmcsrruletext.aspx?chunkKey=0901633480023862 Be safe.
