Hi Friends, I think i put this thread in the wrong place originally (*forgive me if that is the case). Anyway, I started driving with a Florida Furniture company and they offer decent benefits but the pay is on the low side. Now wanting to go out on my own as a Indy and drive with a bud who has an truck he wants to share up with. We can get work within our state and be home 3 nights out of the week. My question is " Insurance -who's got the best insurance for Life and Health for truckers? My bud get his through his wife's company *(lucky ####### so he's no good as a source). I want to make sure my family is protected if something happens to me...and also want some decent health insurance for me. Rather than call a bunch of agents and get all kinds of sales calls...i thought i would ask the board for help. Anyone Recommend an Insurance agent / company ? thanks in advance! ~T
Check with the BBB for health insurance. Pretty soon you'll just be able to buy it off the Obamacare exchange. Life insurance is cheap and can be bought online without talking to anyone. BTW, if you've never paid for your own health insurance, especially a family policy, you better sit down before you get the quote. My wife's policy is $1,500 a month, but her employer pays 98% of it. If we had to do it on our own, I'd have a high annual deductible, say 5,000 to try and get it down to reasonable.
Thanks forty, I don't want to call the BBB because everyone who joins the BBB is just paying to get their stamp of approval (which basically is a token). Would prefer a recommendation from another driver.
The best rates you are going to get are going to come from joining some kind of group, just like employers with 1,000 employees get better rates than those with two. Unfortunately for you, health insurance is very regulated, especially so in FL, so you will have to deal with someone. Good luck.
