Fredrick MD isn't far from Here in Harrisburg Pa. I know of a owner operator here( nice guy) looking to put on a driver... I just talked with him two days ago. Two days ago, he just bought himself his Third Truck.
That's all he does is containers. He told me he's bringing in 3,300 a week with the truck he's driving. He says he even pays bonuses to his other driver..

So he's looking to put on another driver for his third truck.
You just may want to stay in the truck for the week and go home on the weekends. Not sure where he runs to. Gotta find his number.on the paper I wrote it on somewhere.

JB HUNT is hiring out of here to.. check your craigslist in your area.
I can send an message over to you with the number when I find it. But it may not be until tomorrow night or Thursday. Sorry, Got a lot going on here right now.:biggrin_2552:

You talkin about Larry, Double? The guy with that sweet 81 KW day cab?

Buddy of mine used to drive for him, said he got rid of his trucks. He was in one. What gives?

Also, if Miles ain't interested, I sure would be. :) I live just north of Harrisburg.

Someone here on this end, posted on the craigslist, looking for work.
That's how we got the number. A few O/O's called.. The one I wrote down the number and talked with . The other calls, I erased on the voice mail.
I don't think it would be wise to post the info on here .

Send me a message if you're interested and I'll reply with the info. Not sure if he got the seat filled yet or not.

I hear Eastern Freightways is hiring too around this neck of the woods.

    Hello Native,
You mentioned hauling containers directly for the shipper. I am curious as to how one can go about contracting directly with the shipper instead of contracting on with the many container companies here in Norfolk, VA. Seems many of them are all undercutting each other’s prices for contracts with the shippers and in turn paying O/O lower wages. Any information would greatly be appreciated.

    Regards,

    Mike "Blah!"

I got blessed and backed into this. I was hauling to Alaska for the company I'm hauling cans for now. Their Alaska projects dried up and they asked me to do this for a couple of weeks. That was 3 years ago. I don't know too much about what is going on in your area. Try finding a manufacturer that exports. Are there any agriculture exporters in your area? Go talk to them about hauling direct. Stress service. Most of the container companies are hauling for the shipping companies for rock bottom rates. To make money you have to get out of the groove and find a niche. I make excellent money at this but there is a lot of behind the scene work to it. I have to get booking on the ships, get booking numbers set up for release of empties and delivery of loaded. I haul mainly specialized containers and sometimes have to beat the Northwest ports to find one.

    Blah! and david07003 Thank this.

As goes Calif. so goes everywhere else, Calif. ports have started to crack down on the port haulers, emissions requirements are making them buy newer truck. I haul containers out Denver, Co. from the railroads, it's good money when the economy is good. Right now it's way down, our OO's are independents (own authority, insurance, etc.) and make $900 to $1,200 per day when things are going good. Our one OO was pulling down $5,500 to the truck per week for a 10 to 12 hr day/5 day week (his choice not the company), he takes #### good care of his truck too. He owns another truck that he leases to a dirt hauler, at one point is container truck was making more than his dirt truck, and working less hours.

There,s a few intermodel co.s in Chicago, looking for owner operators, the jobs are on craigslist. I might drive a intermodel co. truck, to learn the trade, it seems like it,s the only freight that,s popping right now. Good Luck
