Inverter Question!

Anyone out there running a combo of a 32" and a PS3? I got a 200 watt cont, 400 watt peak inverter that I run mine off of. The TV only runs about 70 or so watts but the PS3 from what I have been researching runs 200-240 watts. All and all with the peak watts my inverter delivers I have enough to run both of them at the same time.

Now, when I shut down for the day, I plugged it all in. Both powered on just fine, but no picture from the PS3. They were working fine the past few times I hooked it up, and I tried various combos of ways to hook up the RCA cables. Nothing. I think it might by the RCA cables (trying to find a full HDMI cable but Pilot/Flying J only have the mini. Does TA have one?). I'm also wondering if its possible perhaps with the inverter running pasts its continuous rate that maybe I'm wearing it out enough that it isn't providing the needed power to run a PS3 properly?

 

A lot of electronics won't run on a low end inverter or not for long anyway. Some things need good clean AC, not some square wave or modified sine wave. The pure sine wave inverters cost more, BUT provide much cleaner power too. I have this one http://www.donrowe.com/inverters/puresine_600.html BUT that won't plug into a cig lighter I would look for some type of larger pure sine wave inverter to run that kind of electronics.

"Peak" on an inverter is only for 10-15 seconds, and intended for something like starting a motor. Pulling 300W for any length of time is going to fry the inverter. Hopefully, you didn't kill your PS3.

Also, if you are going through a lighter socket, you're only going to get 150W or so regardless of the inverter's rating.

If you can have an inverter wired in, I'd go for something in the 500 to 1000 watt range. The one that TS mentioned looks good; I may keep that in mind for myself. (The one I *really* want is about $1000...)
