Woohoo... we've made the 3 month marker and still here!

The miles have been steady for us (hubby - solo driver) the past 3 months and now seem to be picking up. We had the produce load (5 drops)... got another a hot load while still on the first one and then yet another hot load right as we were putting in for a restart to catch up on sleep and other things. So the last load got switched to one with a bit more time before pick up. We run... and will run hard, but there comes a point when safety becomes an issue... it's time to catch up on sleep.

No calls from a new auditing dept., would you enlighten us on that one please?

We picked up in Pottsville tonight... heading to Orlando for a Monday drop... another pickup... then up to Halfmoon, NY. No time to stop at Disneyworld!

I talked to a driver this weekend his truck was L0012. Been here 16 years and L0088 was sitting at his house. He has paid of 5 trucks. So I doubt the stories being told here have any truth to them.

It seems a lot of people look for the bad side of everything and if they can't find it then they make it up! Drivers get fired all the time for many reasons but to hear them tell it it's never their fault.

JCT is a great company to work for. All your expected to do is your job! As a professional driver you know what your job duties are. If you require someone to hold your hand and tell you how to do your job then maybe you need to be driving someone elses truck, you might not be ready to run your own business and that is not the fault of JCT. They provide you with a very good support team but it's there to help you not do it for you!!

Do your job, keep your nose clean, and manage your business and soon you too can have your truck paid off. However, having a paid for truck will indeed make you about $500 -$600 more a week but the down side is this, your now in a higher tax bracket, and you have nothing to write off as far as your truck it's self. So based on 20% you will pay uncle sam another $6000 in taxes this year. But you can put "leased to" on your door.

I will continue my lease until I trade it in and lease another. Also if you pay it off and sell it? Think Capitol gain tax..... That's right, you get to pay more taxes.

thnx for this post!!! answered one of my biggest questions about the reason(s) for getting new lease as opposed to paying off old one and keeping old truck! again,,,love the info on this thread!,,will b arriving there at tulsa internatl in rental car on sunday for mar 1 class wish me luck and see you guys out there!
