Just Arrived in Lewiston for orientation in the morning. I have my CDL and my wife is at home doing the Swift online course. We plan on Teaming when she's finished in December. I didnt want to hijack anyones thread so I thought I would just drag this over here "a solo driver that runs 2500 miles gets paid .26 per mile which is $650 and a driver who is on a team that runs 5000 gets paid .16 per mile which is $800 so you do get paid better. But we're on that truck a lot more time. It's a trade off. " Is this pretty much the norm? I take it Teams arent having any trouble finding miles to run? I've been following this forum for awhile now and have recieved alot of good information, thanks alot guys and gals! Hope to meet a few of you soon. (BTW the Waffle House on Main St here rocks if any other new folks are looking for something to eat.) Take care and stay safe.
Online course for permit, As I'm sure you have a CDL too, in all reality I dont think its neccessary to spend 3 weeks in a classroom to take your written test. I didnt need to. Before this turns into an "OMG Swift is doing online CDL training!!" thread lets put things in perspective. Nothing at all wrong with having an online guide to prepare you for your written test. My home state (MT) doesnt even require that and I would just bet its the same in other states as well. I don't have any solid information about any other school but I don't imagine Swift is the only one out there that would like you to have a permit before you start?
