    1) beware, Military loads with landstar you will sit 6-8 hours and LS claims it's not in their contract with gov to pay detention, with the cut back on DOS loader's your gonna sit for free 4 -6-8 hours

    2) when you have a pick up for LS, and you sit 4-6 hours, don't move until you get the broker to send NEW rate confirmation with your detention $ added or your screwed, if yo have to sit on delivery, your double screwed

its been that way driver i have never been paid for detention time on any military load. When the ships come in beaumont,tx going up to redriver somedays takes 3 hours to load and 6 to off load you just need to understand that going in.

I guess the thing to do before taking one would be figure in your aprox downtime loading and offloading say its 6hrs total and figure it at your rate per Hr

So if rate is 1000 ( example )

And you value your time at 300-400 ( example )

Try to negotiate a higher rate to offset your downtime loss as a acessorial which you get 100% of or break it up between that and FSG either way you get 100% of it and maybe the agent moves up 150 or so on total rate or 200 to help you .

It's all a negoation and how you negotiate as to how you can over come a potential loss on a certain load .

So when you get in line to load they send the LS trucks to the back? Same at unloading , they put others ahead of you?

Some people should open their own company and run their own loads.. what flavor you want your ice cream with it?
