hey everyone, I know everyone have mixed feelings about the companies lease programs. So I did a lot of research, about this is the one company I need the feed back on. Crete Carrier....can I make ends meet while using their least program as a need driver.......if I am going to b work my but off why not do it for myself instead. I already know how least programs works.....I am retiring from the military in two months, and was thinking this would be a good start.
technically your not doing it for yourself. your still under forced dispatch. and paying huge rental fees for the truck. you pay your own taxes and everything else. along with your own insurance. basically your just a IC on a 1099. renting there equipment
A good start would be driving their truck as an employee and learning the industry and business for a few years. Renting their truck and paying ALL the bills is NOT the way to enter the industry.
Crete is a good company for veterans, but start as a company driver. Start as a company driver, then you won't be committed to truck bills, and can check out their flatbed and reefer divisions. All 3 divisions use different types of tractors. After being with Crete awhile, you can make an informed decision as to which division & driver program is best for your particular needs. Welcome to the trucking world & career.
The last thing a new driver needs is a truck rental payment. The only way to make these deals work is by being more efficient than a company driver, and a new driver doesn't know how to do that yet.
But if you are getting paid the same as any other owner operator what other bills could there besides fuel, maintenance cost, tire and food....you have to budget yourself. I have been around the world enough to know that much.....come a little credit here.
Listen to these replies. You, as a new driver with no knowledge of the business, the industry, and the lifestyle should be the last one considering going into trucking as anything OTHER than a company driver for a minimum of 1, preferably 2 years before considering leasing or purchasing a truck. Especially with the economy on the trajectory it is today and into the foreseeable future.
I need believe anything anyone say..... I have done alot of research and it almost seems to be not much difference in it.....beside thelies and what you are getting paid ( percent or by the mile).
I hear everyone that why i am asking.......but on the other that's part of taking a big step in life and seeing what happens......but on a different note can i get help on what will help if i do decide to lease a truck.....this i should consider!
