Im not sure but I think most load boards have the same loads, at least that's what the brokers tell me, they just post them at the same time on a bunch of boards.
As far as your 2nd question, you build relationships. Find out who handles the particular lane you want and talk to them.

I used load boards like the same way you would advertising on a billboard on a busy highway with nothing but potential customers by posting my truck on there. I prefer the brokers to call me instead me calling them due to having a negotiating edge by them calling me. Always quote them YOUR RATE no matter if they tell you what it pays (unless the rare occasion it is higher). Always be polite and professional by thanking them for the call and end with please call back if you can help them out no matter how nasty they get.

The big 3 load boards are DAT (Members Edge thru OOIDA for $17.95/mo.), Internet Truck Stop and Getloaded. ITS has the best and cheapest way to credit check brokers with "days to pay" rating that if they are over 30 days or less than an "A" rating they are COD. Getloaded has a great forum for talking to Brokers and other Carriers for some great advice and information.

With these 3 load boards you will not need any other ones.
