My question is how many months can you post in one log book started at the end of a month and have plenty of pages left going into new month can i still use this book for Feb? Thanks in advance new to forums and trucking. I also saw where drivers have thanked individual posters on there replies how is this done?
go a new book every month--its easier and makes more sense--then when you are done--write on the outside with a sharpy which month ,put it with the others and a big rubber band--throw them in the cubby hole till tax time
Can't help you with the logs cause I am on eLogs. You need to have x number of posts before the thanks button shows up
I find it makes more sense to have one book for each month. The IRS has a flat rate you can take off your income taxes when you drive a truck. I wonder how that drivers will prove that they were out of town or the number of days if they are audited when they have electronic logs? Unless you can prove you were out of town the IRS could disallow your deduction. You could list all of your expenses for every day you are on the road, but it can be easier to just take the flat deduction. I wonder if those who support these EOBR's have considered the tax implications for millions of drivers?
There is absolutely no rule that says you need to use a different log book every month. Just make sure you have the required copies with you (past 7 days), keep the rest at home or whatever, but keep everything for IRS purposes in case your per diem exemption is ever question.
That's it right on the nose. I even think I've got some around the house from the mid 70's. It's fun to look back.
