Ok i looked around and no one has posted anything about a couple of companies I am looking at when i get back to the states. Let me say i am looking for local or regional work not OTR been there done that, if i am going to be away from home i will stay here at least the money is good. Ok i was offered a job with National Carriers pulling out of Fayetteville Ar and would be home on week ends and possibly 2 or 3 times a week seems they run out and back. The other is Core out of KC they say if you live where i do week ends is not a problem. National says .36 and core is .38 i think top wages hiring in with 10+ years exp. seems a little low but you can't have it all. Just wondering if any one has has any experience with either of these. I know national used to be all O/O but they bought out some small company's and now have company trucks.

Is it as rough as the rumors say? Ran into a couple of recruiters about 3 years ago, and the money they stated one can make there seemed too good to be true.

Well the money is good but the conditions are rough and you earn every penny of it. It has gotten better to some degree but its still tough but its one of those things if your going to be away from your family you might as well make all you can and 85,000 a year is pretty hard to pass up and after you get used to it it's not all that bad i am just about burned out though 5 years in the desert is enough.

Heh.. Understood. You'd think that after 20 years in the service, I'd be tired of heading across the pond. Been retired for almost 10 years, and I'm getting the travel itch again.

I know the feeling well i got out in 91 after 14 years of running back and forth across the pond and it is like driving it gets in your blood.
