I'm looking at a mack 2001 with an e7 350 engine. It is an auction truck, was used in paving in new jersey. It has 420000 miles on it. Does anyone know when this truck will be due for an overhaul?
Probably about 20k ago. Most Macks I have dealt with, while fairly robust trucks, have such stiff suspension that they beat themselves apart. New Jersey highways are comparable to lease roads in smoothness, so likely the truck is about done.
4x4 is right. Now the old Mack attacks, would rattle everything to death minus the power/drive train. New ones its everything. They are tanks though, if taken care of. I'm in a '76 RL700 this second with 1.3 million.
1999 to 2001 E7 350's bad for CAM failures had 1 fail 2 weeks after MACK did a cam inspection and gave it a clean bill of health
Why would you want to subject yourself to that kind of a beating on a daily basis? No fame or glory in that.
