Mail contract?

    Do any of you guys know anyone selling a mail contract, or anyone willing to sell a mail contract route? Thank you.

    I don't think the contracts are bought and sold. They renew yearly and you can bid on the contract at that time. To find out, inquire at the post office they may know the bidding process.

    Yeah, I been trying to get one. It’s such good money the contractors keep it hush hush. I was going to buy this one guys company/contract, but he never ended up getting back to me. I’m going to keep at it. Thank ya sir!

    Its all public, there is somewhere a web page that describes the process, has the documents and qualifications on there.

    If you read the long thread about it on here, it has a link to USPS sign up page, they will email contracts open for bid.

    Or buy a whole company, I worked for people who did that.

    But the push is toward larger companies, little ones are getting squeezed out. Talked to some of those, it isn't a fair table.

    Right now USPS spends the most on FedEx, if yiu search you can find a chart with where the money goes.

    Are mail routes decent money? That’s surprising given what a broke p.o.s. usps is. One of the main companies I see doing mail routes in my area have trucks that are beat to hell rattle traps, so I figured the money must not be too great.

    Lol, don’t let people fool you. I live around the Columbus, OH area and these companies are getting around 5-5.50 a mile. The lowest contract around here driving a box truck is 350-500,000 a year and that’s just one contract. MTI, Eagle, McCormick, etc... it’s big business. Some contracts pay a million a year. It all depends how far you drive. I could tell you a lot about the P.O been hauling mail for years. They’re not hurting for money they just want more money. You should see how much money they waste in transportation. You would be shocked!!!

    I drive for the post office out of Southern California, contracts are hard to come by since most of the people who have them are best friends with the manager who gives them out. They do make really good money having the contracts, but that's why you see the drivers they hire driving ####ty equipment, more money for the owner of the contract and most employees are 1099.

    There is no inside favoritism going on with contract routes.

    The managers don't give them out, with the exception of emergency contracts when the bid holder can't provide the contracted service.

    Once you win a bid it is automatically extended and the end of the contract period if you don't have any late arrivals or departures.

    You are required to have a backup truck/tractor or access to an on demand lease, if you want a contract.

    The post office requires the drivers to be paid exactly by the guide lines provided in the contract and it includes health and welfare money as well as 401k money.

    The only way around that requirement is if the driver is related to the contract holder.

    The bids are public and are posted when they become available.
