Is mechanical failure still the drivers fault? I’m not saying I didn’t make a mistake but it’s never happened to me before.
Rolling down the highway 20under speed limit it’s wet. Light goes yellow and I hesitate end up needing to break harder then normal.
Surprise my service brake airline has cracked for the 12th time and now the trailer pushes me through the red light.
Waiting for a call from safety. Hopefully it’s not a firing offense. If it is well I’ll b back in a few days looking for a new job lol

I think with all your problems, I'd just find a new company.

Odd enough my problems are becoming few and far between and I’m starting to like it here. I’m asking for opinions because I’ve honestly never had something like this happen.
And no I’m not shrugging off responsibility for it.

Three orphans and a nun but hell if that’s all I did I might get a raise. Never can tell here.

Lol ya. Idk the answer to your question. The other day I made a hard stop and my right front brake cammed over. I guess I could have fired myself but then I would have rehired myself anyway so what's the use. I wouldn't think you would be in much trouble though personally since nothing happened.

Well depends on the mechanical failure. If it's something you should have caught, you might catch hell for it. Or maybe not. I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Use the experience as a lesson in the future.

FWIW I wouldn't use the "service brake airline has cracked for the 12th time" argument because you should be catching those during the pre-trip. If it has actually happened 12 times I would be looking to work someplace else anyway because your own safety is far more important than any job.
