Just bought a 1999 Freightliner, Detroit engine. Was starting up and running fine then suddenly wouldn't start. Replaced the starter but still won't crank over. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Batteries, Glow plugs and fuses should be the culprit.

What does the voltage gauge in dash say before and after you hit the start button. I'm assuming you have cleaned all the battery cables and load tested each battery individually. As well as retraced all starter connections to make sure they are hooked correctly

Most likely voltage drop between batteries and starter..this old of equipment, corrosion through positive cable.. Or a high resistance to ground through negative cable..

Does it click or CLUNK when trying to start? Click= low cranking amps from battery..

Clunk= high resistance to ground/bad negative cable or loose connection.

When you press the start button, that energises the solinoid on the firewall high on the left side check the power to it while someone holds down the button also the ground with be sure there is battery voltage to one side of it, if there is power threw that then it goes to the starter solinoid, check the power to that and the ground wire from the solinoid to the ground post.
If that all checks out put a volt meter from the negative terminal, on the starter to the battery ground. Then the power to the solinoid to battery Positive.
If you press the button and nothing clicks, or the solinoid on the firewall gets no power then it is the starter button, or even the starter button is not getting power from the ignition switch.
    Just a thought!

If the engine cranks but does not start change the fuel filter and prime the fuel lines. If the engine does not Crank at all then it is electrical.and that could be Ground or fuse or wiring or sensors.also check your ignition switch or fuse.
