Keep us posted on the cetane booster... I've been using premium diesel for the last three weeks OR regular with PS cetane boost and keeping track of MPG...

I do notice a difference in how the truck starts when cold... very smooth. But no MPG increase to brag about... but I was suffering with a sticky frickin' 'white box' Chi-Com air valve that was dragging my trailer brakes.

It was two months old when it failed and left me on an IL backroad with locked brakes.... got a new one in but I have been pulling a company trailer this week...

There's an FS Co-op I frequent that has it (46 cetane rating)... and I bought some yesterday and today at the Trucker's Inn in DeForest, Wi (Madison)...

I'm still trying to find out the cetane rating of the stuff from DeForest... it's gennie Shell from what I know... not all stations sell the same 'brand' of diesel as gasoline.

I can tell you that I really did feel a difference in how the truck ran today. my tanks were pretty low... I've been running short in-state runs this week. I put in 70 gallons on top of the 40 or so already in the tanks... grossing only 79,970 the thing ran like jack the bear. I had to check to see if i had a tailwind... nope.

Maybe tomorrow I'll put on a 'real' load and see how it goes...

So at $4 plus per gal. it costs pretty close to a $1 per mile just to get down the road. Correct me if i'm wrong. Admiral Merchants has the same $2 mile gross freight figure at 75% you get 1.50/mile. Why own a truck? One agent has an LTL for Alaska posted $17,000.00, 2 lines down another agent has the same LTL $11000.00. Our fearless leader(Brian Shortchange Short ,did i say that?) says if you don't like what an agent does do not work for them. My answer is if you wanna be a Gangster let me treat like a Gangster and introduce you to the recieveing end of my Louisville Slugger.

Well in the old days it was 75% of 100%,now it's 75% of whatever is left after the agent drills you less the vaseline. Landstar,Mercer,Mason Dixon they all have agents doing it. And i should say there are still agents who do not play the money game and pay the full 75%. Those are the people i respect. The rest are scumbags and worse.

I'm guessing the admiral is an idiot & hasn't read this whole thread to see how I calculate my miles.... Nope, he just jumps in, see's a set of numbers, then intends to know what he's talking about.

so to you Mr. Admiral.... That number that I posted. The same number you quoted.... Is ALL MILES DRIVEN! Not gross as you assume. That includes several major deadheads to where I said #### it, I'm going home & deadheaded halfway across the Country to get home. It also included the miles to where I drop my trailer & bobtail to Walmart, a movie theater, or even to a parts store. It also includes miles where I dropped my trailer & bobtailed 70 miles to hook up to a friends trailer & drag it back to him where his truck was broke down......

I don't calculate my revenue per mile on loaded miles.... I calculate it on all miles driven.

When Mercer contractors say $2/mile, it means $2/mile gross to the truck.

Why own a truck? Because this past week, I was able to increase my bank account balance by another $3,150 and I have 1/4 tank more fuel than I started the week with.

That's good money by my standard. I made far less doing what is considered a white collar job.

But, judging by the amount of disposable time you have on your hand, you must be making like $34,775.98 net revenue each week. Good for you. I, being a border-line poverty Mercer contractor, don't have time to stick my nose in where it doesn't belong and trash what other truckers are making.

P.S. I do agree about crooked agents.

Nope I figured all the miles just like you. What i'm saying is $1.50 to me is not enough $$$. You said the same thing,i just say it different. I'm agreeing with you.
