In my opinion, this company is using "bait and switch" in their advertising for drivers. I am an "old man", 57 years of trucking driving, but I am still in excellent health, perfect record. I left a perfect part-time job hauling mail for another company all because of this conoravirus mess, back in March. Well from getting "bored out of my rear", I started looking for a nice mail hauling job again.

Midwest Transport had an ad on Indeed which plainly stated, 3 positions, 3 week rotation. each week you would run a different schedule. This sounded pretty good to me. I applied the very first day that the ad appeared on Indeed. Got a call from a recruiter. Here is how the conversation went: "oh those positions have been filled, but I do have this" and he proceeded to spout off something that would have a driver laying over in Landover, Md(Washington D C) from 2am on Monday to 7:30am on Tue. This was every week. No offer of a motel. No way that I am going to sit in a truck in Landover, MD for 30 hours every week. Oh let me add, the "layover" takes place after only a 3 hour drive. You are on duty about 4 hours and then this 30 hour 'layover".
    .

The original ad never said one word about this schedule. The ad is still running about the 3 positions, 3 week rotation. I even called their hand on this by sending a message on their Facebook page and on their website. They do not have enough decency to respond.

Once the recruiter said the positions have been filled you should have hung up.

Don’t see why you need to complain about that

He's letting the rest of the forum know what's going on before they waste their time chasing that job. A scam like that needs to be made public.

    Agreed.
It’s like getting a credit card offer promising a low APR and a high credit line but when you apply the credit card company states that they have to “modify the offer”(usually decreasing the credit limit and/or a substantially higher rate).
If these companies can’t offer what they’re advertising AS ADVERTISED then they need to be called out and put in the hot seat!

The ad has been on Craigslist for quite awhile, must be having difficulty finding someone. Imagine that

Midwest isn't the only mail carrier that is doing the "bait and switch". Eagle in Harrisonburg, Va, in my opinion, is guilty of it. They will advertise a "turn" from Harrisonburg, Va to Fort Mills, SC but you call about this, "oh it has been filled but here what I do have". Jersey city and Long Island :eek::eek::eek:

Grouch...it is not just you complaining about lack of ethics with this company, Midwest Transport. It is a driver merry-go- round.
They have a history of running off drivers by simply not keeping their word from the pre-hire interview forward...surprise, surprise to no one, right? Sad that this is the norm, but I believe you, and I know you are correct..
Do not believe their recruiters...everything needs to be in writing, everything. Better yet, look elsewhere.

Maybe check back with that part time mail carrier job you had originally. Ask em' when they are going to get that route back and running.

Yeah the recruiting department is slow to take down the ads. They now leave them up until the new driver actually works his first shift. Why? Because recently there has been a slew of back outs. Quit during orientation, quit after the road test, quit before the road test, and so on.

From my short experience with this "scab" of an outfit, I can understand the "revolving door".
