Here is a question I am wondering. I have no background in this field so how does it work if they send you 200 miles to pick up a load. Are you paid the miles to get it plus the miles to drop it or is the driving to get it on you?

As a company driver you are paid for the empty miles as well as the loaded miles.

That is not an absolute. There are companies that dont pay for empty miles and some that pay a reduced rate. The main thing is that you will know (or should find out ahead of time) whether you will be paid for all dispatched miles.

    Suspect Zero Thanks this.

If your mileage from address to address is 200 miles, with a lot companies, you might get paid for 175. They do zip code to zip code. Those companies get a whole bunch of miles driven for free over the course of a year.

I usually give away 10 to 100 miles per dispatched stop... Depending on how far apart they are... Just did a 1780 mile run... Was paid for 1685.

OR if you work for percentage, then the only paid miles(technically) are the loaded ones.
