I am currently a motor transport operator in the Marine Corps with my military dump truck(MK29) license and I've spead loaded over 1.8 million pounds of gravel while building a road in Afghanistan. Will potential employers even care about this experience?
Hey Brad-If I had co hauling gravel or stone you would be first in line, even if you were in the back of the line. Good job Thanks Mike
Thanks mike. I have 8 months left before I go home to Texas so I'm looking for any company at this point
I believe they changed the regulations specifically for your experience... I don't know who you would contact for clarification..possibly OOIDA..either by email or phone..(You don't have to be a member) Good luck and Semper Fi !
Look into getting your CDL once you get back stateside through the Marine Corp. Take SEPS and TAPS if they still have it "due to budget cuts" LOL. I know they don't have troops to truckers anymore which is where I took my refresher when I got out of the Corp. Look into the smaller companies in your area that haul stone, sand, concrete, Ect. Where abouts you at over in the Stan? I was over in Now Zad right after your fellow Hawaii Marines(2/3). I was a 0331 in 3/4 Lima. As dumb as I may sound, I miss the hell out of that place and would go back in a seconds notice! Nothing like a 3AM wake up call..... By a 120mm outgoing mortar!
