Does anyone knows anything about Miller Transporters? Is their lease purchase program a rip off like some other companies? I need to know the good and bad because I'm considering signing on with them.

I am looking at them too. I would much prefer to stay as far away as I can from owning my own truck again, but if the money is right, I might consider it.

I can tell you this much. I saw a lot of trucks in the past few months with their name on them, and all the trucks looked well kept. The drivers seemed happy. If the pay rate is high enough for the freight they haul, it could be an OK deal.

I haven't had a chance to talk to one of their drivers, but from what I've read on here the drivers are happy over there. I talked to a recruiter and he said I'll have to run out of the Savanna terminal, because I live in the Atlanta area.

I just checked out their website. The pay scale is nothing to brag about, but as long as you run 2,500 miles a week, you could do OK. Pay for waiting time could be better. Usually a company that pays their company drivers poorly, does not pay their owner/operators that well either.

The pay I am looking at is not the worst you could do, but it's not good enough to interest me, since the nearest terminal is 300 miles from my house.

You would have a hard time averaging 2500 miles per week with Miller Transporters.
I was there 3.5 years out of the Orangeburg, SC terminal and stayed out for long periods running the system as well as another guy I knew who ran out of the Greensboro, NC terminal and neither of us ever broke 100,000 miles in a year. I refused to take "dedicated loads" though which means you have to run back empty for a measly 4% extra which doesn't even cover the cost of the fuel which would have brought the miles up. The best year I had there was my first at $150,000.00 to the truck.

When I was with them they had a terminal based out of the tank wash in Morrow, GA.
They must have closed it or need power in Savannah, GA.
Savannah wouldn't be near the top of my list to run out of.
Channelview, TX and Memphis, Tn are by far the best.

That was your best year??? 6 months into this year and im at 130k that's home every two weeks and sometimes every week. I have taken several weeks off and gone to florida with the gf. I run out of the Pittsburgh terminal. my avg per mile is over 2 a mile for all miles. Im very happy here and making good money. only reason I might consider leaving them is to do a local gig to be home more with my girlfriend and kids. For running underneath their authority and pulling their trailers not a bad gig at all. Oh and other reason I might leave is Im looking at buying another truck and it has a mechanical engine and they don't allow it here unless it was signed on back when it was new and since its obviously not signed onto them with me looking to buy it I cant put it on with them.

I've got a friend who is one of the top trucks running dedicated fuel additive out of Channelview for many years and he doesn't come close to the numbers you claim. Also, when I was leased on there we were going through one of the worst recessions in our lifetime and Miller had to lay off a bunch of trucks so that the rest of us could survive. If you are truly doing the numbers that you claim "to the truck" then you are at the extreme high end of the pay scale at Miller. 79% of their trucks do less than $175,000.00 per year according to their own web site and the reason that Eric gave for going to the forced computer dispatch was to try and get the trucks up to an average 10000 miles per month. When I was there you could barely average 8000 miles a month.
