Hello bro's & sis'ssss alike. Gotta question. I have a 2010 cascadia with 300k and the dd15 def system. I have 2 80 gallon tanks but when I fill it up and when I run low it seems to only be 120! I need some help!
when tanks ore on empty-stick tanks and see how much fuel is left. I know things have changed with trucks but this happened to me with a 1970 white 4000 road boss. The sump was to high for the tank. easy fix then
It also depends on how much of the tank is useable. The tilt in the tank too make the cap accessible takes away from the capacity. For instance my two 120's are only useably able to hold 95gallons a piece.
There needs to be room for the fuel to expand when it gets hot, many times the fill cap will be part way down the side of the tank to accomplish this. Rotating the tank so the fill cap is at the top can sometimes net you a little more fuel capacity, but will result in a big mess if you don't burn the fuel faster than it expands.
Good Lord, 1970 white 4000 road boss, I wont sleep tonight thinking about how hot and noisy those things were. 100 MPH down hill and 5 MPH up and on top of that mine had a 220 come a long. Then I got a 7400 white with a cut back 290, those were not the good old days.
you are right about hot,it was the first tractor I ever drove. and at the time it was great. I thought I was going burn up the highways!!
spacetrucker-i don't remember but It sure fits!! What still is in mind was a hot floor mat, blower sucking air, and the whine from that spicer 958LL. With that 250 cummins it did pull good. it wish I could find one to restore. MZ
My first driving job was for Thurston Motor Lines and they gave me a corbin to drive. 200 come a long with a 4 speed tranny. I see you've been around the block, you might remember. 190 then 220, then 250, then super 250 and 290 Yes I come a long way myself, oh my butt hurt from those hard seats. Young guys now don't know what trucking was.
I'm laughing my Donkey off. I had one with an air starter. Sore behind was a always thing, always hot, but it never broke down. For a Truck it's an A + White 4000, Almost beat me to death. Fond memories.
