This is going to sound stupid but I took a job with an Auto Transport company ran by some Russians.

At first I thought everything was on the up-and-up they paid for me to fly out to Oregon to pick up a truck that was abandoned by a previous driver.

Today at the Indiana weigh station on I-94 heading east, in Chesterton, I was stopped for an inspection.

I was given three violations one for the tags being expired one for the ifta tags not belonging to the company and another for no IRP on a truck registered at 38000 lb GVWR.

The officer took pity on me and did not issue a citation but he did inform me that continuing to operate this truck having been notified of the violations would get me in a lot of trouble and the truck impounded.

The delivery they have me going to is in New York the truck does not have NY Hut stickers.

What should I do I'm over 2000 miles from home with no way to get there.

I'm at a complete loss and I appear to be driving for a company that is less than legitimate.

Here is the copy of the violations because quite frankly I don't care if anyone sees them

    you got a credit card..??

    you got bus money..??

i'd say park it and get home, and in the future, stay away from 1099 jobs or people of unsavory practices.

I like the park it idea but I've spent a week and a half doing this and probably won't get paid.

I'm starting to think of places in Detroit to park this truck any ideas?

I guess I shouldn't worry about an illegitimate company putting anything on my DAC report for an abandoned truck right?

These guys didn't even drug test me they've asked me to run past every weigh station and I refuse to do anything that will put my CDL in jeopardy.

Should I just go home and chalk this up as a life lesson and be grateful I haven't spent any money on it?

I’m not the experienced trucker that you need right now, all is a priorities matter, but common sense should be applied, if the paycheck and your monthly payments to be done is the center of your indecision I rather deal with collections guys and Service customer representatives than killing your best way to make clean money, aka CDL. I go with park it, looking from here there is too much risk involved for how much??? Good luck

Call them and tell them what the cop said. Tell them that you will not be moving that truck anywhere, that you can't work for them anymore and to come get their truck. Then go home.

I did tell them what the cop said. They said to drive around the weigh stations. They told me IFTA is not required for this truck and to just peel the sticker off

I am not messing with New York Department of Transportation.

As a last bit of information the cop informed me that the truck is not on a commercial auto insurance policy and that if he were to report that violation I would have to be arrested and ticketed for operating a vehicle with no insurance.

If you get in a accident driving that unregistered truck with no insurance, you may be going to jail. Go home. Leave the truck
