Got ATT phone and now it's unlocked. Has new simm and I'm out of contract.....problem is I can't make call or email UNLESS I'm in 4G.

I want to be able to roam / toggle carriers / towers.....like the old days.

Phone is unlocked by carrier BUT I can't access network settings...still greyed out in programming.....sup? Need rooting?

So what carrier are you operating through now? Have you asked your current carrier about this issue?

Thats odd because 4G is strictly data,.. has nothing to do with voice.

If you havent rebooted the phone,.. I would definitely try that. If your out of contract then how do you expect to have service? Am I missing something?

Absolutely...after you do the time in contract your free to leave or stay.....the service rolls on. I made ATT give me the unlock code....however this problem started before the contract was up.....

And yes I've spoken to tech support....they said put in a new simm card....and I dd.

    I dunno.....

Take it to the place who gave you the simm and have them deal with it, it sounds like it may be a problem with the simm.

Who are you using for a carrier?

From the limited explanation, it sounds like you may be trying to use your AT&T phone on a Verizon network. Verizon has recently enabled Voice over LTE (VoLTE) in some areas, and will show the symptoms you describe.
