I got my CDL A from KLLM but there training program was so far backed up i looked elsewhere. I went to PTL for 2 weeks with 3k+ miles a week but then the trainer decided to refuse a load (from a company that is a forced dispatch) well we got stuck and forced into a 34hr reset because they didnt have another load, Next we got sent to grab a 900 mile load from a paper mill and low and behold got there and was told the load was already picked up 3 days ago( im sure they were doing this to get back at the guy refusing the load but) Well not getting miles to complete my training i left and went to LandAir. I started out good and was 2 weeks in( trainer then had home time, which was good as i lived only 3hrs away so went home) Got back all refreshed and on first run back truck breaks down- 4days later we get a loaner truck we had to go and recover. after a day they have us go back and get the original truck, And we get on the road and what happens yes the truck breaks down again, 2 days in waiting and was told parts are on order all the while i can not get another trainer truck or my miles needed. They let my trainer know it could be 2,3 or more days till parts come in, so i ended my time and departed. All i want is to get with a good company and get my training in so i can go solo. worked all my life up till i retired at 56,stayed retired 3 years and really dont need to work. But I still have work in my blood and am looking for a company with a recent grad opening, I am good with OTR 2-3 even maybe 4 weeks out if a 1 week in is in the cards.
I would’ve waited on kllm; not many of the larger otr companies do 3-4 weeks out for a week off, but kllm does. Were they not keeping you at a hotel and paying you to wait? Getting paid to do nada is one of my favorite things.
