I havent started school yet, am gathering information here so wont sound stupid when I start school. Driver pay is based on mileage and of course exp. So when team driving i see in some cases pay is split? To a lot of you this is silly quest. but hey Im a NOOB CJ
Yep what Kitty said. Some places will split it down the middle while others will pay each driver based on experience. It depends on the company
and the sad fact is, IF they split it 50/50 and you drive MORE than your co-driver, he earns More money for the LITTLE bit of work he does..... pay per driver is best. that way, your lazy @zzed co-driver WILL HAVE TO pull his share....
Can see where if you owned truck would be good keep it rolling, but if company driver I can see the pitfalls. Thats why Im here, to figure some of this ####e out before making mistakes!! Thankyou!
I think you have it backwards. More pitfalls if you own the truck! If you are a company driver there is not much to worry about. There's lesson one for you. Don't buy a truck!
Well thank you for that lesson. I am still working on gettin into school, so buying a truck is at the least 2-3 yrs down the road. Thats only IF the economy picks up, and more freight starts moving. CJ
With all due respect, I would suggest that you get into a school that can teach you anything but truck driving.
I can appreciate what you're saying, but sometimes it gets in the blood. I landed an uber-job a year ago makeing much more cash and home nightly. I still stare at the rigs wistfully when they come in... Even though I worked for a bottom feeder company, I miss the road. The challenge of climbing a hill while heavy; bumping a tough dock; the rumble of the engine starting to maintain temp in the sleeper. I NEED MEDICATION!!
With all due respect, appreciate your opinion however ..... been looking forward to doing this for last 2-3 yrs, Moving business has gone to ####e! Not a lot of other flippin jobs out there right now ANYWHERE! I Drive, love every minute of it, been driving box truck for 5 1/2 yrs(realize not the same) Enjoy the road, and the bronco in the mud! I know its tough gettin going, I know theres a lot of f*#^ked and dishonest employers out there. I realize aint gonna get rich anytime soon. I also realize you know nothing about me, and while your advice and wisdom is appreciated on this issue I am too determined to let your opinion sway me! CJ
