They haul some stuff for us. Not too bad of a company. Check thier SMS score.
Equipment is pretty good. They run electronic logs. Not sure if that is required or voluntary.

I have a friend that drives for them and he really has no bad complaints, they are a large tanker service so I was surprised that I have received very little response good or bad.

I have been driving for OFC Schmidt for just over a month now. They are a very good company. Run electronic logs on all trucks. Nice trucks even with high miles on some, (mine has over 740,000 miles). Very well maintained and taken care of, if something needs fixed it gets fixed NOW. Mine drives like a new truck. Have manual and automaitic tractors. Haul anything from jet fuel to animal fat. Must have Hazmat. Dispatch could use a little work but it's like that at any trucking company.

Pay depends which package you take, long haul pay our short haul pay. Anywhere from $.33-$.41 per mile.

Update on OFC Schmidt. If you have a family do not work for schmidt unless your wife has great insurance. Their insurance is the worse I have ever seen. The cost is around $150 a week for family and it doesn't cover much. The dental plan is horrible. Everything has a one year pre existing which is a joke. Then it doesn't cover half the things other insurance covers at half the price.

Wow!! I can find insurance independently for 1/2 half that. That's insane!

Hey Nitro. I think you may have heard wrong about OFC-Schmidt health insurance. The only way you get locked into the "1-year pre-existing" deal is if you decline insurance during your first 30 days of employment, and then try and sign up later down the line. As far as I know that's how just about every company does it, to prevent people from waiting until they get sick to sign up for coverage.

Also, price-wise I think your figures are about 10 years old. Nationally, the average price of insurance for a family in 2010 was $13,770. It has doubled since the year 2000 when it was $6,400. So $150/week for a family is now the national average, with the company matching what the employee pays ($600+ a month). In other words, show me an American that isn't worried about the price of insurance these days. $13,770 a year is a tough number to swallow for both employees and employers alike, hence the continuing health-care debate.

Ofc Schmidt. DO NOT CONSIDER THIS COMPANY. You will not like it. Crap tractors and even worse trailers. The pay sucks and so do the dispatchers. Most of the trucks have over 700,000 miles on them. I guess the only good thing is, you can total a truck because you were texting and they will just give you another truck and send you out again. No a very well managed company. Only way you get a new truck is if you have known the owner for years and are his little buddies.
