ETA July 24th re-open GDOT: Bridge hit by truck in Treutlen County to be demolished, part of I-16 shut down | 13wmaz.com
The driver was an ex Navy seal that was undercover for the DEA, he had to be whisked out of the country to conceal his identity
Good thing he was pulling a dump trailer and not a straight dump truck. Had one here in Florida that the dump bed went up on I 10 and it slammed the cab into the bottom of the bridge span and killed the driver instantly.
I remember the one in TX on 35 that was hit twice in a matter of weeks. 1 fatality. It was crazy there a few years ago until they finished the construction
Out here in Midland/Odessa, bridges get hit many times a year by over height oilfield equipment, Cotton Flat Road, Garfield St., Midkiff Rd, on I-20. In Odessa, Crane Ave., was banged a couple years ago, less than a week after re-opening from an earlier strike that closed for over 3 months. It has gotten better recently, TxDot has posted ‘oversized’ routes along I-20. Basically exit, and use frontage, then get back on. But still some boneheads ignore.
