Is there any way to get around opti idle, like setting your cruise control and getting the rpms up so it will not shut the truck on and off?

yes, that's what optimized idle is for, to keep oil pressure up among other things. just hit your cruise on and bump it up to around 1000 rpm and you should be fine.

upping idle on my truck does not work. try bumping clutch when it first comes on this is what works for me, but have to do it as soon as light starts to flash.

Sorry, can't help you (worthless post!) -- I always hated opti idle. But you eventually get used to it, sort of. Until it screws up and you wake up to 45 degrees in teh cab, brrrrrrrr. If it isn't working right, try to get the shop to replace the sensor.
