Told my company what route I wanted to take to I5 via 20 and 22. I know that westbound 84 is open but wanted to avoid that area. I get the Trip Permit and it's listed I84 and I5. 20 and 22 are a little less miles than taking 84. Can I proceed on 20 and 22 though permit is for 84?? Also I have it on my phone not a paper copy, is the OK? FYI: '53 REEFER 80,000GVW

You have to take route printed on permit

Where are you coming from? It sounds like you're coming from Idaho? If so, take 84 then 5. It'll be faster.
    • Hwy 22 is regularly used with 53' trailers. It's pretty much a 2 lane highway across the state. Pretty drive though.
    • Hwy 20 is length restricted between Sweet Home and the 126/20 junction and is NOT 53' passable (well, you could, but you'd be in the opposing lane for many corners - it's also a pretty rough ride - and that's in a car!).
Refer to Oregon DOT Route Map 7 (http://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/Forms/Motcarr/8104.pdf)

FWIW - I live about an hour south of Woodburn.

Yeah I knew 20 west of 126 was restricted that's why I was gonna cut up 22 to 5. It would've added an hour or so but hopefully 84 west doesn't get shut down again for any reason. Thx for the replies!

This is the one and only correct answer to your question.

That's a good question. I dont know, I always had a hard copy of my Oregon permits. Call ODOT directly and ask.

The way government is, I'd print it out... If for no other reason then no ticket if you reach over to glance at a road name while driving...

    Broke Down 69 Thanks this.
