Just wondering new to the Orientation thing always drove for smaller company. Let me get this straight you don't have the job until you get part way through it to me that just sounds crazy! Call me old fashioned but I live by the motto you never take another job until you have a new one. I just could not quit one job in the hopes i get a job offer at the other ones orientation does that make sense or am I way off base? Thanks

Makes perfect sense. This is how it works when you play with the big boys. First, you send in an app, the company reviews it, and either yays it or nays it. If they yay it, you then proceed on with the hiring process, which means you go to orientation, where you are in there "back yard", so to speak. Now, the fun begins, interviews/physicals/road tests/drug screens/background checks etc. At any time you could be bounced back to the house, if you fail any aspect. You have to remember, a lot of new hires don't show up AFTER saying they will show up. So everything is tentative, right? You will be hired IF you pass all the stuff at orientation.
