The past few weeks I have called around to companies and applied on more we sites than I can count. I talk to recruiters about my info etc and everyone says give me a call when you are a week out of being finished to schedule orientation. I call around and all but one company that will remain nameless has no information on me. Is this an industry standard of show up then we will look at you? If I spend my time driving/flying three states away only to be sent home for something dumb like blood pressure I will be choking someone on the way out.

yes this is pretty common, Watkins Shepard is the only company that I know of that does all the checks before you go to orientation, I'm sure theres more just none that i know of.

Thats why its always a good idea to do all the checks and physicals before you go.

You need to know your bp ahead of time.

And pull your own mvr, and perhaps background also.

And your list of medications, and letters of release for old injuries/surgeries........

    etc etc.........see where I'm coming from ??

There is almost no real reason to be sent home from orientation, 95% of the time.
