    Hi,

Two years ago I got a DUI a few months before planning to start trucking school. I'm finally on the other end of the court battle and made alternate plans in assumption I wouldn't be able to get a CDL. My question is has anyone had luck post DUI attaining a CDL? I also haven't had the suspension of my license take place yet. Does that play a part in the "no DUI for x years" I see some companies display?

Thanks for any and all help

It’s probably the suspension date not the arrest date........

Per my understanding, A select few might hire you at two years completion of everything within the system. That doesn’t mean from the arrest date. That said, your pickings are going to be kind of slim for a while. Until you get to the five year mark your options will be quite limited to probably substandard trucking companies. But yeah, there’s some mega carriers that will hire you.

And on a side note, You got a leave behind your boozing days if you’re going to drive a big truck. Even during your time off you really shouldn’t be drinking and it just makes the job miserable if you try and do it. I only drink When I have a minimum of two days out in front of me before I have to get back on the truck. And trust me before I started truck driving I used to enjoy drinking. You can’t do it out here.

I figured it wasn't from arrest date but completion of suspension. To be honest, I'm not a big drinker but got caught with some other things that made them take my blood and it came back with thc in my system, no booze (plan to stop smoking well before I entered a school). Everything I've been seeing has been 7-10 years so even 5 is promising.
