Just a few notes here in response to the last few responses here which i can fill in with more detail when there is more time:

    1) Yes, it's a physical gig. But i've noticed a lot of guys want to rush thru each delivery (which is great for productivity) but the faster you go, the more physically difficult it is. At the same token, yes, i realize there are deadlines.

    2) There is equipment that can make the job easier AND won't really cost the company anything in the big picture. But the companies don't give a flying ### about the driver. i saw a sysco driver today (and btw anyone who drives for sysco more power to you) go down that big ramp from the back of the trailer and he really had to "chase it"---cos no brakes. i mean at least 300 lbs. You food guys are killing yourselves.

    3) now for Weezard; i think Republic National will start you off at $15 ( i think, but not positive cos it's been a while since i worked there) as a helper and then $17.25 as a driver BUT overtime after 8 and 40. Should have no problems getting OT. All liquor, beer, wine etc.

Yea the Pepsi plant here in buffalo is also union, it is a physical job but I love it. It's my first trucking job out of school and honestly the hours you can't beat em.

I'm to the point where I usually start at 4:30am, one day I came in and the warehouse was behind so I didn't get on the road till almost 8am. I had 19 stops and 705 cases i finished and was back at the plant by 2:30.

That was a rough day ha

    That's nothing..

One day I clocked in at 2am for a NC trip (I'm based in VA) and I didn't get back to the plant until after 5pm and clocked out..

That was a rough one, I had to go to corolla through a one lane highway in a tourist area at 1pm, not fun at all

    Pepsiguy,

How are the benefits, I start Monday and was just wondering how long till the health insurance kicks in and how much it will cost?

Also noticed the jobs pay way less in South than here in North, same job is 55K target pay in Ohio and 39K in Fl.

    thanks!
