Maybe this question has already been answered but I can't find it anywhere. From what I have been reading i'm glad I opted out of my companies per diem program. So how do I figure my own per diem? Is it as impossible as my orientator made out or is it fairly simple? Any insight would be great.

Count the days you spend away from home. at the end of the year you add them up and tell your accountant and they figure it out.

    1) keep all of your logs as these will be your proof if you get audited by the IRS.
2)Get an account that knows trucking. Stay away from those big box taw people! Get a small CPA firm that knows trucking! Ask an O/O in your area who he uses.
