Phone interview

Hey all,

I'm not a driver, but I do have a question.
A little background. I've been struggling in the metal fabrication industry for about 5 years. I drive an hour to work, my only vehicle blew up on me. And I lost my job because of it. Now. I applied to a larger company that offers CDL training. They called me back the very next day. And again a week later. And set up a time for an over the phone interview. The interview was scheduled for today at 1 o'clock. I have received no call.. I called them 30 minutes after. And left a voicemail.. still nothing. Is this typical? Or should I move on. It seemed in my conversations that I already had a job essentially. And I had the impression that this phone interview was a formality at this point. And I kind of need to know. I guess just looking for advice. They even told me the job position I would be getting, regional reefer, and pay.. so I'm pretty confused on them ghosting me to be honest

 

You do NOT have a "Job" in ANY trucking company worthy of the name until you have not been sent home from orientation. Usually after the physicals, drug tests etc.

When you recieve your credentials in form of permit bag, fuel card, DRIVER CODE to write down for satellite comms etc then you KNOW you are hired. No one is going to go "Ta dah! yer hired" anything is possible including being sent home from Orientation at any time.

Recruiting by phone or whatever is a form of high speed dating, to use a analogy that is a little grimy since recruiters are only interested in fresh meat that know nothing rather than cast offs and sad sacks from other walks of life.

 

Do you want to be a full time cdl driver?
Where is your location?
Some railroad companies have jobs where a cdl is required to drive maintenance trucks, such as sprayers or signal maintenance. Some railroad companies even help a person get a cdl.

 

Recruiters job is to get you thinking that your hired and wonderful things will happen when you come to work. If it seems like a fantasy? Well it is. The reality is far worse. You want to be a truck driver? Good for you. Hope you like eating manure as most of the trainers out there will feed you buckets of it daily.

You want to be a driver. If you want it, get it locally. After you get your license. Look for a member here by the name of @Chinatown. He will help you better than any recruiter would.

 

I live in Northeastern WI. I guess I should clarify. I dont have a perfect driving record. I have a few seatbelt and I have 2 speeding fines over the last 2-3 years. They just sent me a rescinding employment offer email. But didnt specify what the disqualifications for the training course are

Actually I only have 1 speeding ticket in the last 2 years. It was 20 over. Which I know probably isnt good

 

How long does that take?
