So I have CDL C, and drive for a seasonal tour company right now in Alaska. I plan on enrolling in an independent CDL school and upgrading to a CDL A in few months when this season ends. Since I passed my physical already (this past April), which is good for two years, I won't have to take another physical when I get hired by a truck company, right?
I took one for school but then when I was hired I had to take another physical, drug screen and hair follicle--so it depends on the company! Recruiter may not have the correct answer on this one...
Almost universally you will have to take another physical and have a new card with the new company. Liability being what it is, the companies cannot trust that the card is legit.
