I've been driving 6 years. I went to a pre-employment physical yesterday. I passed every thing sight hearing blood pressure was 126 over 82 at the end the Dr asks if I've had a sleep apnea test. I say no. She takes my medical certification away until I get one. I say can't you give me a 90 day certificate? so I can afford to get one she refuses! This isn't a disqualifing condition how can I get my certificate back please help me I don't have insurance I don't have a job. She shouldn't be allowed to do this! Because I gained some weight this is wrong I called the d.o.t they said it's at the Dr's discretion. What are my options?

If you dont insurance you can do a home test for $150 Get it handled so you can get back to work..

Yes they can do this its their duty to keep you safe on the road and if you meet the sleep apnea criteria then you have to test.

You can try doctor shopping and see if you can find a doc willing to pass you. Otherwise you'll need a sleep study and I think 30 of treatment to see if it works for you. If your new employer says you gotta get a physical from their doc then there isn't much you can do.

    Wow...... That's bull.
Glad the doc doesn't know my sleeping issues: Snoring louder than a chainsaw in the northern Maine woods, sleep talking & yelling, lashing out physically..... sure the next guy over thinks I'm fighting someone.

    Sorry, driver. :(

Yes I meet the minimum criteria but this isn't a disqualifing condition I've had no safety issues no warnings I should've been given time to get the test

Cpap rules aren't new. I go in 90 days early for my renewal just to make sure I don't have any issues.

Yes I have 8 months left on my current certificate. With the new registry you can't use it once your denied it goes into the bmv and you're done
