Hello, I am a 22 year old male from Michigan. I really want to acquire my cdl so I can start my career as a truck driver. My father and brother currently drive, and its also my destiny, theres just one problem. I had got into trouble with a possession of marijuana in Michigan, they automatically suspend your license in the state of Michigan for any drug charge. I have my license back with no restrictions now, my problem is I was told i am not applicable for a cdl after a suspension of drivers license for three years. I don't understand how a nonmoving violation suspension can prevent me from a cdl for 3 years. If anyone has any insight please help me out.
I'm sorry but that sounds like an issue you'll have to take up with the state. Or maybe transfer to another more lenient state? Was the marijuana possession charge and mandatory suspension a surprise to you? Maybe you can sue the state for not informing you of the consequences of grass and it's use and what happens when caught.
Even if you get your cdl nobody will hire you for three year after a suspension. Either way youre sitting the next three years out.
Just build a trucking company, line up the 8 balls and bongs on your desk, pull drivers in for randoms, fire them when they're pos, and never worry about drug testing, DUI's or drug history. It works for the lawmakers
Your first step is to use an address in another state. You're not the only one on this forum from Michigan that's had the same or similar problem. Will you relocate? Do you have friends or relatives in another state and use their address? So, what you must do is get a drivers license from another state, attend a private CDL school(no trucking company sponsored school will take you), and then start the job search.
Might want to apply for dockwork to get in and build some trust with a local company...one option, got to work your way out of this either way.
