You should get a frequent fueler card at whichever truckstop your company uses. This frequent fueler card will give you a cash back bonus usually about .01 cents per gallon of fuel purchased and a shower awarded each time you fuel up with at least 50 gallons of fuel. Just be aware that these shower credits will expire within a week (5 days in the case of Pilot truckstops). Figure on fueling your truck each day (average truck will get about 6 mpg and if you drive 600 miles you will have used 100 gallons). The key to showering each day is to take the time for yourself preferably later in the evening or early mornings. Drivers that stop around dinner time will have to wait in line for what could be hours. If at all possible shut down at the truckstop where you have fueled and take care of showering, eating, and sleeping.
As for me I shower whenever I can based on the load I am under. Flexibility is what you must learn. Remember if soldiers can get by without a shower every day and no air conditioning you can too.

Just want sum of these newbies, to realize there in training and just to get it done safe, if they got a complaint, it should be safety or not being trained to do the job. Not my trainer aint into showering, no tv, microwave and so on.. There not there for that.. If he is eating and being trained and atleast a shower everyother day. He is doing great! The trucks rolling.

I guess I got it from a disgruntled CRST employee LOL. Thanks for making that clear.

I also drive for CRST, we do get the rewards on the cards. That may have changed since the person spoke to you I'm not sure. But at least as of now they have a company policy that we are to have a shower available to us at least once every 2 days. Hopefully it was always this way, but with your info it looks like that isnt the case. Kinda sad to with hold those free showers.

Yeah, ignore your trainer's bad habits, once you are on your own, you can run your truck how you want (within certain limits, of course). And I would advise against telling your company, until after training is over; Because otherwise, you could end up waiting for a while for a new trainer.
I used to plan my trips, so that if I was stopping at a truckstop (for the night), then I would get up early and shower then (between 0300-0500), and get going.

Good luck with the smelly automaton, focus on the important stuff and make it through. Good luck!
