Several years back when fuel was $3-4 a gallon they said rate should be the same per mile as the cost of a gallon of diesel. Fuel today was $1.41, wonder if they still use that formula?
Well everybody says that when it's 4 bucks a gallon, when it's under 2 that little rule suddenly disappears.
Not sure who "they" are, but I guess if you get right down to it, it comes down to what rate "you" agree to haul it for....
Obviously coyote doesn't. They've got one listed Woodland California to Riverside California for a whole whopping $0.66 a mile. And no, it's not a partial. It's just a tad under 40000 lb. I don't know how they can even have the balls to post something like that. I'm sure when I look tomorrow it'll be gone. And hopefully the goof that hauls it will be gone, as in bankrupt soon.
41 cents a mile on One load board, At 1 time fuel was around $ 1 gal. Freight was less than 1$ mile, lots of loads , happy days.
IMHO..Look at EIA.GOV..find current national fuel price...75% of that is what brokers are getting for loads. Current rate SHOULD be $1.85 gross. Remember, broker has to "make" a $$$ as well.
Sounds reasonable that rates should follow the fuel price. we all know that insurance cost, maintenance cost and driver pay all follow fuel prices. Why wouldn’t rate per mile ?
